00113 - Sometimes, you just need to laugh

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

A Pastor was visiting his congregation, seeing many, praying with most. At one house there was no answer, so he got a card from his bag and wrote Revelation 3:20 ‘I stand at the door and knock…’

The next Sunday, he received a card back from the gentleman he had tried to visit. When he read it there was a smiley face sticker inside with another scripture, Genesis 3:10 ‘I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid’.

While tongue in cheek, the point here is they were friends. The Pastor cared enough to visit, and the interaction brought a smile to both of them. Proverbs 27:9 says, ‘The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense’ (NLT). We might not be perfect, but when we help people and grow friendship our lives are all the better for it.

Quote Friendship is the ability to listen, laugh and grow with each other.

Prayer Lord, thank you for the friendships I have, I pray God’s richest blessing on my friends today, Amen.

Action Point Don’t shy away from a good old belly laugh, life is so full of stress, we just need to laugh sometimes.
