I grew up in a church which taught that no one Christian should drink alcohol. Biblical wisdom suggests that whatever we do, we should do it in moderation. Also, there is medical and legal advice. How many units do you consume daily, and when might you break the law by drinking too much?
Romans 14:21 says, ‘It is good [to do the right thing and] not eat meat or drink wine, or do anything that offends your brother and weakens him spiritually.’ (AMP)
This verse is a very good steer. If the people you are around might be offended by alcohol, don’t drink. If they are OK, drink in moderation. Whatever we do, do it for the glory of God. Look at where drinking is in your priorities in life. If it’s in the top five, you might need to bring it under control and focus more on God.
Quote When alcohol influences your desire for God, reduce your drink.
Prayer
Let everything I do, Lord, be done in moderation. Amen.
Action Point
Medical science says to drink no more than 6 glasses of wine or 6 pints of beer per week; any more will affect your health.
