John 12:35-36 says, ‘Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.’ (NIV)
Jesus was, of course, referencing Himself as ‘the light’. He is, after all the light of the world.
What I love about these verses is that Jesus talks of His light within us. We are like lighthouses to people around us who don’t know Jesus and are caught up in the storms of life. The light within us will always lead us back to Him. Never give up the light within you. It’s a reference point to Jesus.
Quote You are the light of Jesus to the stormy lives of the people around you.
Lord, help me to shine the light of Jesus brighter than I ever have. Amen.
Think about the person you know with the toughest problems at the moment and focus prayer for them. Then see what God does.
