Violence In The Home

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 14

No kind of violence at home is acceptable or should be tolerated. If you are in the unfortunate situation of experiencing violence at home, seek help before it’s too late. Hoping that tomorrow, next week, month or year might be better after so many years of the same thing won’t work. It may be time to move on.

2 Timothy 3:1-3 says, ‘But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good.’ (ESV)

20% of all couples experience domestic violence during their lifetime. It’s a huge number of people. God does not want this, and the Church should not speak of ongoing tolerance either. Let’s pray that God would release those in need from domestic violence torture.

Quote

Violence at Home should not be tolerated just because you are a Christian.

Prayer

Father, I pray for protection for anyone in a situation of domestic violence. Amen.

Action Point

If you know of anyone experiencing domestic violence, get help for that person, don’t keep it secret; they are at risk and will need help.
