00104 - Johannes Gutenberg

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

Gutenberg is one of the most influential Christians in history. He invented the first mechanical printing press in 1452 and the first book he chose to print was the Bible.

Gutenberg was never wealthy in his lifetime, at one point because of his inability to manage finance he even lost control of the printing press which printed Bibles. The point is, he started a revolution that would enable the Bible to be printed much quicker than the handwritten versions on sale. He put the Bible into the hands of tens of thousands of people. You could argue that Gutenberg started a process that has reached more people with God’s word than anyone else in history.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…’ (NIV). God knew the plans for Gutenberg at 54, and God knows the plans He has set, ready for you!

Quote Whatever you do for God, do it with all of your might.

Prayer Heavenly Father, thank you that you use us in your Kingdom, show me what you would like me to do for You, Amen.

Action Point It doesn’t cost much too much to purchase a Bible and give it as a gift to a family member, a neighbour or work colleague. It is the most precious gift they could get.
