When Russia annexed the Crimea in 2014, Ukraine put up little resistance, neither did the global community. Testing the resolve of his neighbouring country and former U.S.S.R. territory, Putin had since been building his war machine, with the intent of completely occupying the country, eight short years later.
Jesus faced with his own conflict in Matthew 26:52 said, ‘“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword’. (NIV)
Ukraine stood its ground against a much more powerful enemy, yet millions of Ukrainians are now refugees, the country decimated. The ambition of war brings no real victor. Outside Ukraine, energy prices have skyrocketed, causing inflation everywhere. If ever there is a time to pray, concerted, persistent prayer it’s now. What would happen if we all prayed for 100 days for the war to stop? I believe it would.
Quote There is nothing more powerful than untied, focussed, persistent prayer.
Prayer Father, we pray for the war in Ukraine to stop in Jesus’s name, Amen.
