Friends You Can Rely On

Updated: Jan 25

It’s likely that many of us will only be able to count on one hand the friends who walk with us through the whole of life’s journey. Friendships can have their challenges; differences of opinion, offense and sometimes our own actions bring annoyance or hurt. The friendships that last, see beyond the moment and still walk with you.

Proverbs 27:9 says, ‘Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice’ (NIV).

A good friendship is like a smooth sandpaper, gently shaping our view, yet always seeking to bring the best out of us in the end. When was the last time we celebrated our friendships? taking them for a meal, thanking them for walking with us through life’s journey. Toward the end of life, what we cherish the most are the solid friendships we have enjoyed for all those years.

Quote A good friend has greater value than our influence or wealth.

Prayer Heavenly Father, thank you for the friendships in my life, would you bless them and keep them in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action point

When you need to lean on a friend, remember that time and reciprocate when they need your help, a friend in need is a friend indeed.
