When we have public holidays, people tend to go into overdrive on DIY projects, shopping trips, painting things, and not doing what the holiday was designed for – rest. We can often get so busy on that day of rest; we go back to our normal activity even more tired than before we began.
Matthew 11:28 says ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest’.
It’s not rocket science to listen to your mind and body groan at you when you are doing too much. Perhaps what you need today is a meandering walk in the park or on the beach or to just watch a favourite old movie. Remove the busyness from the day and just spend some time using the break to rest. It might be the best thing is to do nothing at all. Go on, have the day off!
Quote The best way to re-charge is to rest – plain and simple.
Prayer Thank you, Lord, that you encourage us when we are weary to rest, Amen.
Don’t forget to take time off your devices too. Walk, read a book, lay in, but more than anything take a deep breath in and rest.
