00663 - The Towel And The Bowl

On Maundy Thursday, Jesus washed His disciples' feet, an event recorded in John 13:14 (NIV): "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet." Jesus dismantled notions of hierarchy and power, illustrating that this act reserved for the lowest showed true greatness in serving others with humility and love.

It challenges us to reflect on our own attitudes towards service and humility. In a world often driven by self-interest and the pursuit of status, Jesus’ example calls us to adopt a posture of selflessness and a willingness to serve others.

Whether in our families, workplaces, or communities, we are encouraged to serve others humbly and with compassion, mirroring Jesus' example. By doing so, we not only honour His teachings but also foster environments of love and respect, breaking down barriers and building up communities in accordance with God’s kingdom values.

Quote

Never be so full of yourself that serving others is beneath you.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for Your love toward us. Amen.

Action Point

When was the last time you did an act of service toward others?
