Looking after our bodies is something we can quickly shove to the back burner. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT) says, "Don’t you realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honour God with your body."
Exercise isn't about looking fit or ticking off a New Year's resolution. It’s a way to honour the temple that God entrusted to you. This isn't just a vessel; it's a sacred space, You are where the Holy Spirit dwells. So, keeping it fit and healthy is like housekeeping for the soul.
Exercise is your offering to God. It's your way of saying, "Thanks for this incredible body; I'll take good care of it." It makes lacing up those trainers a bit more meaningful.
Quote Keeping as well as you are able is honouring the body God gave you.
Prayer
Lord, help me be motivated to exercise, to help keep myself well. Amen.
Action Point
Exercise often needs a friend to be accountable with. Find someone you know, even if it’s just for a regular walk.
