The Altar Of Pointless

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 17

The definition of pointless is to do something ‘having little or no sense, use or purpose’. Similar to stupid ‘doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result’. You may be doing something which will never have a useful outcome, so question whether it’s time to let that thing go.

1 Corinthians 10:23 says, ‘I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial…..’ (NIV)

Don’t expend your life on the altar of pointless. Don’t be stubborn, either. If it’s time to move on, then do it, gather yourself and get to a new season in life. God will not persecute you for trying something, even if it doesn’t work out. About a third of the projects I’ve done fly, a third are OK, and a third are disasters. The point is finding a way to move on, still searching the heart of God.

Quote Trying is not wrong; finding the better way is the right way.

Prayer

Father, help me get the right focus and emphasis for my life. Amen.

Action Point

Once a year, go to someone you trust and tell them all you are doing and ask them to advise you for the future.
