The Alabaster Box

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 10

The story can be found in Matthew 26:6-13, I want to focus on verses 7 & 8 which says ‘While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head. The disciples were indignant when they saw this. “What a waste!” they said.’ (NLT)

The disciples were close to Jesus and thought they were able to judge the sacrifice the woman had made. Her act of love ‘without speaking’ that night, was the loudest thing that happened in the room. She knew what Jesus was about to do for us all. She brought the best sacrifice she had in her life, to Him.

You might also want to acknowledge what God has done. Some moments in life are deeply personal, to the degree that others scoff. Don’t shy away from it, the moment is between you and God.

Quote

Sometimes our actions of love speak much louder than words.

Prayer

Lord, the best thing I can offer to You is me, use me Lord I pray. Amen.
