This time of year for many is one of the only times to slow down a breathe, to spend some time with family, to play chess or board games, to laugh, knowing the problems you face can wait for a few days while you have some time off.
There is a great promise in Exodus 33:14, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest’. (NIV)
It is OK not to be busy. It’s OK to watch something funny on TV and have a belly laugh. It’s OK to have a good old natter with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while. It’s OK to have a lay in, get up late and potter around. God is interested in every aspect of your life, including rest, so go for it, take a break and enjoy it, He will be smiling from Heaven.
Quote
Rest is a crucial part of a full life.
Prayer
Lord, help me to take time off from my busyness without me feeling guilty, Amen.
Action Point
Think about what allows you to rest and make a space for that, enjoy it, it will put a smile on your face and joy in your heart.
