Taking over 450 years to build, the cathedral sees around 1,000 visitors a week. Worship started at the cathedral around 1093, in a then Norman style architecture and boasting one of the longest nave’s in Europe.
When I visited there several years ago, I wanted to find a place to pray. I saw some candels off to one side, with a board you could pin written prayers to. I saw an unassuming brass plaque which stated, ‘There has been uninterrupted prayer in this place for 1,000 years’. I was absolutely amazed and challenged by reading that plaque.
Matthew 16:18 says ‘I will build by Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it’. (NIV) What ever governments rise and fall, or national crisis. God has built temples within our hearts which will always worship Him. Have faith in the fact that we serve an everlasting Kingdom and King.
