00142 - Why do the clocks go back ?

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

In 1916, during the second world war, the government installed a mandate of turning the clocks back coming into the winter and forward as we come into the summer. This was primarily to give more light in the evening and therefore to save energy due the circumstance of the time.

There are some people that feel moving the clocks back and then forward again is now irrelevant, for this devotional we’ll not debate that.

Matthew 6:34 says ‘..do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself’ (NIV)

God operates outside time, so the clock going back doesn’t affect God at all, it’s more to do with our tradition. No matter what the time is, God is there, whether it’s 1hr forward or back, whether you live in the UK or Australia, God is ALWAYS there, thank Him for that, He exists outside of the way we understand time.

Quote It’s so great that no matter the time, God is always there.

Prayer

Father, thank you that you are with me all of the time, you don’t need sleep, you are never distracted, thank you, Amen.

Action Point Many of the people around us will feel down in winter, look out for them as God loves them just the same, no matter what time of year.
