Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” remains one of the great mysteries of the Bible. Though we don’t know exactly what it was—whether physical pain, opposition, or a spiritual battle—we do know that God allowed it. Paul pleaded for it to be removed, but God’s response was clear: His grace was enough. Sometimes, we too face struggles that won’t simply disappear, yet through them, we learn to rely fully on God.
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (NIV). Our struggles are not defeats; they are opportunities to see God’s strength in action.
Whatever your thorn may be, trust that God is using it to refine, strengthen, and draw you closer to Him.
