Shout for joy

Carl Brettle

Updated: Jan 31

When Darlene Zschech wrote the song, ‘Shout to the Lord in 1993, people were surprised but there was something about the song that resonated with them, it was later played in Churches around the world. Psalm 100:1-5 says ‘Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs…… Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name’ (NIV).

Is it our British reserve that stops us from being as exuberant as the Bible suggests? Church is ‘The’ place to rejoice, to praise, to worship, to shout a thank you to the one who has been rescued from darkness and from a Christless eternity.

Church is where our combined fellowship and joy should surely become a fragrant incense to God, so next time you're there, take a risk and shout for joy.

Quote

Don’t let your shyness stop you from letting God know you love Him.

Prayer

Daddy, help me to love you more, to express the overflowing river of thanks I have for you coming into my life, Amen.

Action Point Close the curtains, shut the doors, crank up the worship and dance, no one can see your joy except God!
