We live in a world where the media are constantly pushing messages to us that other people live better lives than we do, have better things, look more stylish and are more successful. The adage comes to mind, ‘The grass is always greener on the other side’.
The reality of course is often quite different to the perfect dream. It is absolutely fine if you don’t live this perfect dream. We are after all imperfect beings who God is shaping as we go through life.
It says in Galatians 6:9, ‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up’ (NIV). With that in mind, your success might be made through lots of small steps over time. So, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have the things others do, God just has a different plan for you.
Getting ready for eternity is better than focussing on things you can’t take there.
Lord, thanks for reminding me that the success of my life is how close I come to you, Amen.
Most of the time the people who exhibit the most success, are up to their eyes in debt. Be comfortable with where you are in life, enjoy life’s journey.
