00200 - Hubble verses James Webb telescope
Updated: Mar 10
When the Hubble telescope was launched in 1990 into low earth orbit, the world was shocked by the images it captured. It would be Christmas day 31 years later when the weird looking James Webb telescope was launched offering six times the detail of Hubble.
Genesis 1:1 says ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth’. (NIV) Far before the telescope were built, God created the universe that they would later look at.
The James Webb telescope in particular has shown nebular and distant stars. It was 1608 when Jacob Medius was one of the first to create something which showed space in more detail than the naked eye. Humans will never stop inventing, but God is the greatest investor of all. Never forget that mankind ability will never match the creativity of God. There are a billion, billion stars, we live near just one of them.
We have only ever seen a millionth of one percent of the universe.
Father, the extent of your creation is beyond imagination, thank you for all you have done, Amen.
It’s worth having a look side by side of the images both telescopes have captured, see below for the link.
