We are not born with hatred, nor is it a natural part of who we are. It’s a learned behaviour from the world around us. Whether through experiences, upbringing, or society, hatred grows when fear, ignorance, or bitterness take root in our hearts. But this is not how God intends us to live. We are called to love, not hate.
The Bible is clear that hatred is destructive, not only to those we direct it towards but also to ourselves. “If someone says, ‘I love God,’ but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar” (1 John 4:20, TLB). This shows that hatred is incompatible with the love of God. We cannot truly love God and hold hatred in our hearts.
We must unlearn hatred and replace it with love and compassion. By seeking God’s heart, we can choose forgiveness, understanding, and peace in our relationships.
Quote
When you use the word ‘hate’ you are agreeing with satan’s plan for you.
Prayer
Lord, help me not to have one ounce of hatred in my heart. Amen.
Action Point
Hatred is the fuel of isolation. Love God, Love people, that’s it.
