Jehovah-Sabaoth

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 23

Jehovah-Sabaoth means "The Lord of Hosts" or "The Lord of Armies," emphasising God’s power and authority over all heavenly and earthly forces. In 1 Samuel 17:45 (ESV), David says to Goliath, “I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” David’s confidence in Jehovah-Sabaoth gave him the courage to stand against overwhelming odds.

When we trust, we recognise that we are never alone in our struggles. God commands the armies of heaven and fights on our behalf, whether we face spiritual battles, personal challenges, or external conflicts. His strength is more than anything that comes against us.

We are acknowledging the confidence to step forward in faith. It reminds us to rely not on our abilities but on the unmatched power of the God who fights for us, ensuring victory and peace in every situation.

Quote

Call on God, Jehovah-Sabaoth, to fight for you when you need Him.

Prayer

Lord, would You fight for me when I cannot fight for myself? Amen.

Action Point

You’ll have to trust God when you feel at the end of yourself. Give God a go.
