00830 - The Legacy Of Martyrs

These men and women stood firm in their belief in Christ, even when it cost them their lives. Their sacrifices remind us that our faith is built on a foundation of devotion that goes far beyond words. Their lives inspire us to live boldly for Christ, no matter the cost.

Polycarp, the Bishop of Smyrna, refused to renounce his faith even when threatened with death. His famous words, "Eighty-six years I have served Him, and He has done me no wrong," as recorded in early Christian writings, still resonate today. In Hebrews 12:1 (ESV), we are encouraged to "run with endurance the race that is set before us”.

Even in the face of persecution, our faith is a beacon, showing others a commitment to Christ. As we reflect on their lives, let us be inspired to stand firm, knowing that our faith, like theirs, can transform this hurting world.

Quote

To live for Christ will always push the darkness away.

Prayer

Father, help me to live out my life, sold out for You. Amen.

Action Point

Think through what you will give up to live fully for Jesus.
