After His crucifixion, Jesus' resurrection occurred three days later, fulfilling the Scriptures (Luke 24:46). Following this miraculous event, He spent 40 days with His disciples, imparting wisdom, reinforcing faith, and preparing them for their mission. Acts 1:3 (NIV) describes this period: "After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God."
During these 40 days, Jesus appeared to various individuals and groups, including Mary Magdalene, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and the gathered apostles, ultimately displaying His majesty, power, and authority.
This time solidified the disciples' understanding of Jesus’ identity as the resurrected Lord and their role in advancing His kingdom. Eventually, Jesus ascended to heaven, promising to send the Holy Spirit to empower His followers for the task ahead (Acts 1:8).
