Whether it’s coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, peanut allergy, or hay fever, allergies can cause itchy eyes, wheezing, rashes, swelling, pain, vomiting, or diarrhoea. Most of the allergies we know today were not even diagnosed, recognised or treated 30 years ago. Allergies can be a point of contention; let’s always respect the needs of someone with one or more allergies.
Romans 14:3 says, ‘Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.’ (ESV)
If you don’t suffer from allergies, please spare a thought for those around you who suffer greatly. Some have a limited diet; others can have a severe reaction to something which would require hospital attention. Let’s pray for the people you know who suffer from allergies. Shouldn’t we believe that God could heal their allergies today?
Quote Eat fresh produce, exercise, sleep well and trust God with the rest.
Prayer
Lord, help me with my allergies and help me understand others with allergies. Amen.
Action Point
Try to avoid any processed food for a month, and only eat fresh produce. See how you feel at the end of it.
