Own The Street You Walk On

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 11

We live on a street with a mixture of 250 homes, hairdressers, takeaways and charity shops. The street has seen better days since out of town shopping centres started.

Wherever we have lived, we’ve tried to make a spiritual impact on the street, leaving things when we moved in a better way than we first found them. It takes a lot of prayer and conversation to build relationships. We’ve prayed for shops selling drugs to close - they did, then a new shop opened which is out and out satanic; our next prayer project!

Joshua 1:3 says ‘I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.’ (NIV) Wherever you live, know you are there for a reason. Pray like a revival is around the corner, and don’t be shy to tell everyone you are a christian. Your influence could mean their decision for Jesus.

Quote

You are the chaplain of the street you live on, because you represent Jesus.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, show me the people I should talk to or help, in Your name. Amen

Action Point

We try to buy at least five things from the business on our street per week, it helps keep the shops open. Encourage other to help local businesses.
