00295 - Caffeine Withdrawal

Found in coffee, tea, chocolate, energy drinks and even chewing gum. Caffeine increases the activity of your nervous system; increasing the circulation of cortisol and adrenaline. Both can make you feel good and more alert. It will also increase anxiety, and can lead to headaches, restlessness and insomnia.

When you remove caffeine from your diet it can take nine whole days for your system to settle down. People complain of severe headaches and mood swings etc.

1 Corinthians 6:12 says ‘You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.’ (NLT) While caffeine is permissible, not everything is beneficial. We inherently

know when we are doing too much of anything, so ask God for help to get you back on track - do everything you do in moderation!

Quote

God made you to live well. Do everything you do with moderation.

Prayer

Lord, help me think through the things I do in life, which I need to reign in. Amen

Action Point

If you have never done it, come off caffeine for a month. You will sleep better, feel more positive and have more energy - why not give it a try?
