The experience of faith building on a short term mission is incredible. Being outside your comfort zone enough to leave God use you. If you went to Africa or India, the temperature, the culture, the food and the church experience is all different.
If you have never been, I would wholeheartedly suggest you do. Life circumstances may stop you from travel, yet you could still be involved. You could volunteer to pray, or to fundraise. Think of yourself being on the team here rather than on the team there.
Psalm 96:3 says ‘Declare His glory among the nations. His wonders among all peoples..’ (NKJV) Short term mission is about seeing people come to accept Jesus as their personal saviour. What I’ve found over the years is the more prayer invested before the trip, the more people accept Jesus during the trip. Just goes to show how important prayer is!
The more you pray, the better the short term mission trip will be.
Lord, help me be open to the idea of going on a trip or praying for one. Amen.
