I’m writing this a month before my 53rd birthday, in the second half of life. I don’t see that as a bad thing; I am looking forward to eternal life eventually. Each year that passes, experience tells me to focus more on the meaningful things, on making memories for my wife and son, and to create a legacy through writing. I still aim to live well into my 80’s!
Your age is an asset in God’s Kingdom, you’ve probably made all your mistakes in life when you play the second half. You will help the next generation gain wisdom and arise, if you convey what you have learnt with a steady hand.
Psalm 90:12 says ‘Teach us how short our lives really are so that we may be wise.’ (NCV) Let’s not fritter the years away, lets do something good with the wisdom we’ve gleaned over the years!
Quote
In the second half of life, you are way more influential than in the first half!
Prayer
Father, would you show me what I can focus on as my years advance. Amen.
Action Point
Have a think about one or two things which you could do consistently to help those around you in their faith journey.
