00251 - Taxes

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

Most of us pay income tax, VAT, national insurance, council tax, road tax, tv license, inheritance tax, stamp duty, tax on alcohol and tobacco as well as air passenger tax. While not all of these apply to us, we all pay a lot of tax! Let’s get our focus right and know God does not tax us.

It’s the government's role to extract as much money as possible from you to enable the country to fulfil the things we voted for. Even though we are often left with about a third of what we actually earn, most governments are in huge debt.

Jesus said of taxes to Rome in Mark 12:17 ‘Give Caesar what is his, and give God what is his.’ (MSG) Society will never be fulfilled from the result of spending money! You can’t buy peace in God, it’s a free gift with no taxes involved. Amen!

Quote

Countries can not tax their way to happiness - they all need God.

Prayer

Lord, help me to pay what I must, but keep the peaceful focus of my life on You, Amen.

Action Point

Think about how you can simplify life in order to spend more time focussing on Jesus.
