Extending A Hand Of Friendship

Carl Brettle

Updated: Feb 10

Our world is constantly changing and many of us might have noticed new faces moving into our community. Those faces might be from another nation. We should welcome the opportunity to make new friends. Different cultures and languages are great fun, as you get to know them and they get to know you.

There are no strangers in God’s Kingdom and in particular God wants us to help, widows, orphans and refugees. Matthew 25:40 says ‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (NIV) You should read the whole chapter!

If there is an unfamiliar family who moves into your area, don’t treat them with suspicion, treat them as new friends in the making. It will of course take effort, introduce yourself and start work on a potential new friendship!

Quote

God tells us to help widows, orphans and refugees - do it!

Prayer

Lord help me overcome my nerves and make contact with my new neighbours. Amen.

Action Point

Don’t forget, the new neighbours will be more nervous than you. Why not become a bridge to their new future.
