The loss of any loved one during the year is especially felt at birthdays and Christmas. You might have glanced over to the empty chair at lunch, or missed their humour during the day. There is usually an emptiness that’s felt that you shouldn’t try and rush to fill. Let you mind and heart celebrate their life, let’s not forget they still live on in you and in time you will be reunited in heaven.
Matthew 5:4 has a straight forward promise, ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’. (NIV)
There is something special in talking out the memories, remembering the funny times together and letting you mind wander to the best times you had together. God knows your loss and He wants to comfort you. It’s OK not to be OK, just remember God is there with you every step of the way through it.
