When we moved to Manchester, we decided as the new kids on the block to have a Christmas party, we printed invitations, took them around and no one came. With quick thinking we took food around on trays to neighbours, saying sorry if you couldn’t make the party, so we brought the food to you. It broke the ice on our street and forged new friendships.
Luke 3:11 says ‘… Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same’. (NIV)
We might think that what we have is not good enough to even give away. You would be surprised by what happens when you reach out. It becomes more than the food, it becomes connection and friendship. One single act of sharing left overs might well change someones life forever - don’t shrink back, just go for it!
Quote
Giving our least, could be the best in someone else’s life.
Prayer
Thank you Lord that I can help the folk around me, show me what to do, Amen.
Action Point
If you don’t have left overs from a meal, you might have some tinned goods you could give to Church, Food Bank, the point is, most people can do something.
