Seeing children sing a song, read the bible, or pray, brings joy to the heart. As it says in Proverbs 22:6 ‘Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it’ (NLT). Wise words for any parent, grand parent, or Sunday school teacher.
In a world where the moral compass of the teachings of Jesus are so easily ignored, it’s good to instil truth from an early age. There are 38 parables recorded by Matthew, Mark & Luke which teach on fundamental issues of life. Then other passages like The Lord’s Prayer, the beatitudes and the stories of the miracles Jesus performed. There is a wealth of life shaping lessons to be learned there.
Don’t shy away from any positive Christian influence you can give the children around you, it’s like seed invested in them, which will one day, with prayer, bear fruit.
Quote Jesus’ teachings provide more guidance in life than a smart phone or search engine!
Prayer Father, protect the children I know from the evil one, let them grow with a knowledge of and dependence on you, Amen.
Action point
If you don’t yet pray with your children or grand children you should try it, connecting them with God through prayer will establish them for life.
