Have you noticed the concept of lying has been broken down into two areas these days, little white lies, which don’t on the surface seem to affect anyone and then more sinister proper lies, which do.
Proverbs 12:22 says, ‘Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight’. Notice there is no mention of proper lies or little white ones there. From God’s viewpoint, whatever the lie, don’t do it.
There are people in life that have become so used to lying, it feels like every sentence from their lips is full of deceit. Bottom line is, your heart knows when your lips are lying, so if the conviction of your heart whispers to you, that you shouldn’t be saying that thing you said, stop doing it, ask God’s forgiveness and become a talker of truth. Remember it’s truth that sets you free.
Quote It’s the truth, not lies, that sets you free.
Prayer Father, if I have lied, forgive me, help me to be a talker of truth from now on, Amen.
Action Point If you find yourself prone to the phrase, I’ll just say, or I’ll say such and such, nip it in the bud straight away, its a lie.
