There are people around us who always seem to be able to stay on top of their work and wider life, doing both with a smile. Many of us however live life more like animal from the muppets. Those of us who have this together usually under promise and over deliver on the expectations of others.
People who over promise and under deliver, however, do so because they want to please. They rarely count the cost before launching into anything and often come out the other side with egg on their face when they fail.
Proverbs 20:25 says ‘It is a trap to dedicate something rashly…’. If that is you, perhaps it’s time to change, to live life a bit more thoughtfully and always put yourself in a place where you deliver on the promises you make, after all, who will trust someone long term when they consistently don’t deliver!
Quote Your integrity is based on delivering your promises.
Prayer Heavenly Father, forgive me if I have lacked integrity and help me to fulfil the promises I make, Amen.
Action Point If you struggle in this area, try not to over promise and under deliver for one day, then one week, then a month, until you are out of that bad habit.
